Shining Horizons Therapeutic Riding Association is a registered charity and equine assisted wellness centre serving children, youth, and adults in the Saint John area. Founded in 1996 and registered as a charity in 2014, the organization began with therapeutic riding and has expanded into a wider range of equine-assisted physical and mental health programming.
Its therapeutic riding program supports participants with diverse needs, including autism, cerebral palsy, neuromuscular diseases, and Down syndrome. In addition to mounted therapeutic riding, Shining Horizons offers unmounted equine-assisted therapy programs for neurodiverse youth and individuals coping with trauma, along with inclusive programs such as Pony Pals and a developing Care Farm initiative.
The centre operates on a 15-acre accessible facility with a large indoor arena, therapy room, barn, meadows, pastures, woodland trails, and access to the Bay of Fundy shoreline. Therapeutic riding is led by CanTRA-certified instructors, and the organization also identifies itself as affiliated with Equine Canada and PATH International.
