Stable Hands is a nonprofit adaptive horseback riding program that serves children and adults living with disabilities in Siskiyou County. Founded in 1996, the program focuses on helping participants overcome physical, mental, and emotional challenges through therapeutic horsemanship.
Its adaptive horsemanship program includes grooming, saddling, leading, warm-up activities on the ground, and mounted riding lessons in small groups. The program is designed to support strength, balance, confidence, communication, and social skills, with additional support from horse leaders and sidewalkers when needed.
Stable Hands also runs Horses Helping Heroes, a program for military veterans, and offers spring, summer, and fall riding sessions during the year. It is a PATH Premier Accredited program.
