More about this center
About the Program
According to its website, adaptive riding sessions are tailored to each rider, using calm horses and adaptive equipment. The site says the program follows PATH International standards and is led by certified therapeutic riding instructors. Read more about therapeutic riding.
Freedom Reins serves veterans of all branches and eras plus police, firefighters, EMTs and other emergency personnel. The ranch says it is free, needs no horse experience and meets weekly, with sessions listed on Tuesday mornings. See our guide to equine therapy for veterans.
History
The ranch says it was started in 2010 by Tammy Sliger, inspired by Terissa Gautney, a young woman with cerebral palsy. It began on less than an acre in New Port Richey, moved to 10 acres in Golden Acres, and relocated to its current Hudson property after zoning limits forced a move. Bay News 9 reported on the move in 2018 and covered the veterans program in July 2025.
