More about this center

About the Program

According to its website, Partners for Progress opened in 2005. Power Hour runs in ten-week sessions built around themes such as emotional regulation, boundaries and mindfulness, with grooming, groundwork, leading and, when appropriate, mounted work. The site says these sessions are led by certified therapeutic riding instructors and licensed professionals.

Unbridled Strength is a mounted exercise program for people with physical disabilities and adults facing age-related concerns. The center says a licensed therapist guides each rider through stretching, balance and strength work while a trained volunteer or staff member leads the horse. Sports Riding covers posture and balance, communication with the horse, patterns and obstacles, and ring etiquette, with in-house Home Shows judged in front of an audience.

Life Skills and Staff

The Occupational Life Skills program is a year-round, goal-based program for participants 13 and older. Projects include caring for the grounds and gardens and harvesting produce to sell at fundraising events. The center's team page lists a founder and executive director, riding instructors, a physical therapist and a physical therapist assistant.
