About the Program
The ranch offers individual lessons for ages 3 and up, including people with cognitive, physical, behavioral, emotional or social disabilities, with both mounted and unmounted activities. Special education classes can book group lessons to build work skills with horses. Therapeutic riding sessions work on core strength, balance and riding skills, and a mechanical horse is used indoors when weather keeps riders out of the arena.
Its "Roadmap to Safety" instruction starts on the ground, with safe handling and reading horse body language, before moving to riding. Standard lessons run from beginner to advanced, English or western, for children and adults.
Education programs include All About Horses, a spring after-school program for grade school children that uses horses to teach exercise, nutrition and healthy habits, and a July summer reading program in which children read books about horses and read aloud to a horse. The ranch also runs a weeklong summer camp that pairs riding with arts and crafts, and a horsemanship class for all ages on caring for a horse.
The Horses and Staff
The ranch keeps a herd of about a dozen horses, most of them in the riding program. Founder Rosie Goldstein has kept Spanish Mustangs since 2006, and supporters can sponsor a mustang through the website.
Goldstein founded the organization in June 2016, and the ranch opened in May 2017. Kelsey Repsch, a PATH Intl. certified instructor who is also certified in equine massage, is executive director, and Goldstein remains involved with the organization.
Getting Started
Lessons and therapeutic riding sessions are by appointment. As listed on the pricing page, therapeutic riding is $45 per session and riding lessons are $45 per hour. The four-week after-school program meets twice a week and is listed at $240 for 8 sessions.
