More about this center
About the Program
MTR says it is a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center. Its therapeutic riding program, called Adaptive Riding and Horsemanship, is taught by PATH Intl. Certified Instructors using dressage-based principles, with mounted or unmounted lessons for riders 5 and up.
Its hippotherapy services are led by licensed therapists trained through the American Hippotherapy Association, according to its website. Children can start as young as 2, and a physician's prescription is required. Equine-assisted psychotherapy is co-led by a licensed mental health professional and an equine specialist, both certified in the Eagala model.
Program for Heroes
This program is for veterans, active-duty military personnel and first responders. MTR says eligible participants receive needs-based mental health, physical and speech therapy at no cost. Adaptive riding is not covered by the program, but heroes participants get priority on the waiting list.

Common Questions
Answered from the center’s own website and public records.
How do I sign up?
Email info@mtrinc.org and return the application by email or mail. MTR then schedules a farm tour and evaluation, or an intake for psychotherapy, and you submit a short online form to join the waitlist before each registration period.
Is there a waitlist?
Yes. MTR says spots open only when a current participant ends their sessions, and placement depends on horse, provider and volunteer availability.
How much does it cost, and is insurance accepted?
Call (410) 923-6800 to ask about current rates. MTR does not bill insurance directly, but it provides superbills on request for services that may be reimbursable, and it lists scholarships including Lilley's Lessons and Horses in Motion for MS. See our guide to equine therapy costs.
How are sessions scheduled?
Sessions are weekly at the same day and time. Adaptive riding registration covers a full 7 to 13 week session, and therapy follows each person's treatment plan.
