More about this center
About the Program
The ranch was formerly called Medina Creative Therapy Ranch. Its parent organization, Creative Living Unlimited, was formed as a nonprofit by a group of parents in 1992 and provides housing, services and supports for adults with disabilities.
According to its website, certified PATH instructors lead therapeutic riding sessions tailored to each rider, for ages four and up. Participants also learn feeding, grooming and stable upkeep, which the ranch uses for vocational and life skills training. The ranch partners with the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities to offer a Special Olympics Equestrian Program.
Getting Started
Riders fill out the Riding Application on the ranch page and must have a signed contract and payment in place before riding. Lessons run in winter, spring, summer and fall sessions of 10 or 12 weeks, and each session includes a make-up week.
As listed, a 10-week session is $375, a 12-week session is $450, and the drop-in rate is $37.50 per lesson. Call 330-591-4434 to confirm current rates and openings.
The Horses and Volunteering
The ranch page profiles its horses and donkeys, including Lainey, Suzie, Stella, Biscuit, Willow, Cooper, Betty, Simba, Joy, Angel and Ernie. Supporters can sponsor one through Adopt-a-Horse, which the ranch lists at $5,000 a year to cover feed, farrier and vet care.
Volunteers must be at least 14. No experience is needed, training is provided, and the ranch says it especially needs horse leaders. Chrissi Stohlman is the contact for volunteering and horse adoption.
Location
The ranch is at 5200 Lake Rd., Medina, OH 44256. It lists hours of Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with Saturday hours depending on lessons and events. Creative Living Unlimited's main office is at 232 North Court St. in Medina.
