About the Program
According to a 2012 Daily Texan article, Penni Bozadzis founded the program in 2005 as Thoughtful House Equestrians and served as managing director and lead therapist. The article says she holds a degree in speech pathology. A Summit Christian Academy article from March 2025 says she still leads LTE and that 12 students, ages 4 to 39, were enrolled at the time.
The 2012 article described lessons of about an hour that mixed basic riding instruction, games and trail rides. Both the 2012 and 2025 articles use the term hippotherapy when describing the program. Horse Shows and Volunteering
LTE riders take part in horse show classes for people with disabilities. In March 2025 they prepared for the Gold Stirrup Horse Show at the Rodeo Austin Show Barn, according to the Summit Christian Academy article.
The same article describes LTE as volunteer-driven, with volunteers helping in classes, caring for animals, maintaining the property and clearing trails. Past volunteers have included University of Texas student groups, according to the 2012 article, and Summit Christian Academy National Honor Society students in 2025.

LTE is based in the Austin area. A 2012 news report placed the program on about seven acres of leased pasture in the hills of West Austin. Contact it to confirm where lessons take place before visiting.
