More about this center
About the Program
The ranch describes itself as a "Center for Hope" for families of children and adults with special needs. Riding lessons are taught in small groups, with three volunteers assigned to each horse and rider for safety. Classes are offered for independent, youth and adult riders and run Monday through Thursday, with adult classes on Wednesday mornings and youth and independent classes in the afternoons.
Lessons are open to anyone over age two. Full and partial scholarships are available, and families who need help with the cost can apply. For current lesson rates, call 704-784-3147 or email wingsofeaglesranch@gmail.com.
Camps
Summer Adventure camps run for a week, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., for campers age 4 and up. Some weeks are reserved for children with moderate to severe disabilities and their siblings and are staffed with occupational therapy assistant students from Cabarrus College of Health Sciences. Other weeks are for more independent campers alongside typically developing peers. Activities include morning chapel, horseback riding, adaptive biking, fishing, pottery, low ropes and high ropes with a climbing tower and zip line.
The ranch also runs a Horse Lovers Camp for advanced riders age 6 and up and quarterly Saturday day camps. Both list a $100 deposit.
The Horses and Staff
Christine Cronin is the founder and executive director. She is a PATH Intl. Certified Riding Instructor, holds CHA Level 2 certification and is an ACCT high ropes facilitator. The ranch's Our Horses page lists 19 horses. The ranch celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2023 and received its 501(c)(3) status in 1999.
Volunteering
Each horse and rider needs three volunteers, one leading and two walking alongside. Volunteers must be at least 14, attend a training session and commit to about 2 to 4 hours a week during eight-week sessions in fall, winter and spring. No horse experience is required.

What ages can ride?
Riding lessons are open to anyone over age two. Summer Adventure camps are for ages 4 and up, and Horse Lovers Camp is for ages 6 and up.
How much do lessons cost?
Call 704-784-3147 or email wingsofeaglesranch@gmail.com for current rates. Full and partial scholarships are available for lessons.
How do camp applications work?
Applications can be completed online, and each needs a full-body photo of the child so staff can match the child to a horse. Final payment and a signed physician form are due April 1, or the child is moved to the waitlist.
