About the Program
NDR's About page says the program began in 2010 with three horses, a borrowed arena and 14 riders from Peppermint Ridge, a residential facility in Corona. Those riders asked Joe and Donna Hyde, owners of No Drama Ranch, to develop a riding program. The site says NDR now serves more than 200 families a year across Southern California. Riverside County Supervisor Karen Spiegel's District 2 office reported a ribbon-cutting for the center's 15th anniversary in November 2025.
Mounted lessons are built around each rider's physical, cognitive and emotional goals. Ground sessions focus on grooming, leading and observing horses. The veterans program lists the VA and Wounded Warrior Project as partners (see equine therapy for veterans). NDR describes itself as a PATH Intl. member center.
Getting Started
All riders complete a participant application, downloadable from the contact page, and email it to the office. Staff review it and follow up about eligibility and next steps. Tours of the ranch are by appointment.
Volunteering
NDR relies on volunteers. Its volunteer page lists two roles: side-walkers, who walk beside riders to offer steady support, and horse leaders, who guide horses through the arena with training provided. Volunteers must be at least 14, and the page asks for an 8 to 12 week commitment during weekday or Saturday daytime hours.
