About the Program
Ride On says it gave its first lesson in March 1994 at Stoney Point Stables, using horses borrowed from neighbors, and gained accreditation in 1995 after moving to Broken Tree Ranch. Its homepage describes it as the only Premier accredited program offering adaptive riding in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. It is also a USEF Center of Excellence that delivers the USEF Para-Equestrian Dressage Program.
According to the homepage, specially trained PATH Intl. qualified instructors teach therapeutic riding to riders of varying ability levels, and the organization also offers physical, occupational and speech-language therapy. Ride On also says it manages the Rancho Potrero Community Equestrian Center in Thousand Oaks with the Conejo Recreation and Park District.
Volunteering
Volunteers 14 and older can work in the arena with riders, and ages 12 to 14 can help in the barn. The website says no experience with horses or disabilities is needed.
