About the Program
The ranch says its equine-assisted clinical therapies, often referred to as hippotherapy, use the movement of the horse within individualized treatment plans. Physical, occupational and speech-language therapy are delivered by licensed clinicians working within their scope of practice, and sessions may also involve equine professionals, handlers and trained volunteers. Adaptive horsemanship is led by PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors and combines mounted and groundwork activities aimed at balance, coordination, strength and confidence. Equine-assisted psychotherapy is offered by licensed mental health professionals for individuals and families. A supported employment program builds job readiness and life skills through work on the ranch.
History
Affinity Ranch is the new name for two organizations. Praying Hands Ranch was founded in 1987 by Carl and Shirley Hanson, and Promise Ranch began in 2008 as Promise Ranch Therapeutic Riding before rebranding in 2022 as Promise Ranch Therapies & Recreation.

How do I get started at Affinity Ranch?
Complete the Prospective Client Registration Form under the Client tab on the ranch's website and select each waitlist you want to join. A team member calls when a spot opens.
Is there a waitlist?
Yes. The ranch says wait times vary by program, with adaptive horsemanship and hippotherapy waits of up to 18 months for some clients, while psychotherapy waits are often shorter.
How much does it cost, and is insurance accepted?
