About the Program
TRS describes its mission as improving "the lives of humans through the immeasurable power of horses." Its therapeutic riding lessons are taught by PATH Intl. certified instructors and volunteers. No diagnosis or prior horse experience is required.
The Connections program involves no riding. Participants groom, do groundwork and observe horses, learning about behavior, communication, haltering, safety and basic anatomy. The website says participants may include veterans, first responders, youth in mentoring programs and trauma survivors.
