About the Program
GAIT teaches lessons in structured 10-week sessions so riders and families can track progress toward set goals. Lessons last 45 minutes and may include tacking, mounting, dismounting and feeding treats, with most students riding for about 30 minutes. According to the registration page, lessons are taught by PATH-certified instructors or instructors in training, and riders are grouped by goals, needs and abilities.
The staff page lists founder Margaret Rich as a PATH certified instructor and Liz Henry, who holds a master's degree in Special Education, as Program Director. GAIT says it was named the 2024 Riverside County Nonprofit of the Year.
Getting Started
Families register online and complete a New Client Packet, or call the office at (951) 302-2384. GAIT notes that enrollment is not guaranteed until you receive confirmation. A helmet is required for all mounted activities, and medical clearance that addresses mounted activities is required for riders with neurological concerns, spinal involvement or limited head and neck control.
